The body/mind/emotion/energy system is always working towards homeostasis.  Given the proper conditions, it will heal.  Sometimes our natural ability to remain balanced is short-circuited. This may be due to stress, injury, accident, poor posture and patterns of movement, emotional experiences, and/or over-taxing our limits. When this happens, our system tries to adapt as best it can, but in the process may create patterns of further stress or dysfunction as it compensates for the original imbalance.

Physical injury, for example, often creates compensatory patterns in other parts of the body as well as possible mental and emotional consequences.  Mental stress or emotional turmoil likewise affect our bodies:  our endocrine system responds as strongly to intense feelings as it does to actual physical threats, and even our posture changes according to how we feel; our mental and emotional patterns literally get held in our bodies' tissues.  Discomfort on any level (physical, mental, emotional), stimulates the sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight/freeze) and inhibits our body’s capacity to heal.

When we are at ease, the parasympathetic nervous system (rest/digest/heal) is engaged, making true healing possible.  Feeling safe, comfortable, and honored we can let go of what no longer serves us and open to new possibilities.  Moving towards balance on any one level of our being will bring about greater balance and ease in all the others.

Bryony has received training in numerous modalities, from very physical fascial and structural work to subtle off body and distance work.  Her training has included Massage (Neuro-muscular Therapy, Connective Tissue Therapy, Swedish, and Sports massage), Hydrotherapy, Ortho-Bionomy®,  CranioSacral Therapy, Reiki, Distance healing, Polarity Therapy, Matrix Energetics, Shiatsu/acupressure, Touch for Health, advanced yoga teacher trainings, anatomy, biomechanics, and kinesiology.

Bryony brings a focused presence, and a compassionate, caring, listening touch to all of her sessions.

Sessions are customized to each client’s needs and goals, and often include several modalities.

All therapies offered by Bryony are non-invasive, and the client's comfort and ease is of utmost priority.  With the exception of massage, sessions are typically conducted with the client fully clothed.

Many modalities can also be provided in remote sessions.

All bodywork effects not only the body but the mind and emotions as well.

Some therapies work primarily at the physical level, creating a secondary beneficial effect on the mind and emotions.  Massage, for example, focuses on the muscles and fascia but can also help us to feel more grounded and at peace - anxiety lessens, as we feel more connected with and comfortable in our bodies.  Subtler work, such as Reiki, Polarity Therapy, and Matrix Energetics, focuses on the energy (causal) body, including mental and emotional patterns held in our bodies' tissues; as our minds, emotions, and energy system rebalance, physical symptoms often improve or resolve.

Head Massage
Holding Hands

The day after being thrown from my horse, my left leg was so sore that I couldn't lift it and had to use my hands to move it. That evening Bryony performed Ortho-Bionomy on me.  It was so subtle, I hardly imagined one session would accomplish much.  The following day I was pleasantly surprised to find my leg had minimal soreness, and I could lift it without using my hands.  By day two, I had absolutely no pain! I recommend Bryony's methods to anyone experiencing any type of discomfort.  She is truly gifted.

“Where does the body end and the mind begin?

Where does the mind end and the spirit begin?

They cannot be divided, as they are inter-related and

but different aspects of the same all-pervading consciousness."
